Surf's Up

I first heard about Laird Hamilton, king of big-wave and tow-in surfing, a few years ago and recently came across this video. Amazing.



The waves at the US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach weren't quite 70 feet high, but I had a blast watching the pros surf. Kelly Slater had a perfect 10 at the open.








Brett Simpson went on to win the men's finals and the biggest prize in surfing competition history, $100K.


I'm motivated to try out the waves in LA finally!
